Cardinal Cristal Eggs
Imagined as a custom light installation for Design Miami, the Cardinal Crystal Eggs’ first aim was to draw people’s attention around the Design District’s two central blocks, during Art Basel, a prominent collectors’ gathering. Designed as helium inflated silver-mirror balloons attached to the surrounding buildings, they would have given the sensation that the nature of light evolves throughout the day and night. Moreover, the shape of the balloons would have come as reminders of the most perfect shape in design : the egg.
Considered as points of entry (and way out), the four Cardinal Crystal Eggs would have been posted at each crossroad, as a symbol of creativity and a twisted vision inside the heart of the district. Moving along with the wind, pedestrians walking under them would have discovered a concave shaped diamond from beneath. Inhabited by many reflections, each egg would have given the impression that light was born in the heart of the balloon.
At night, the light projected from the buildings onto the eggs (into the crystal cut shape) would have projected crystals of light onto the crossroads in a poetical way.
